The Next Fifty Years

Overview

• This class considers the changes that may occur in America during the next fifty years. The business environment is divided into four areas: Political, Economic, Social and Technology. 

• The Political sector includes the world order, war and terrorism,

• The Economic sector deals with the growth and decline of various economies, debt structure, trade balances, and resource availability.

• The Social sector deals with world population shifts, demographics, family structure, relationships among ethnic groups, conflicts among various age groups, and lifestyle changes.

• Technology focuses on innovations in communication, health care, housing, automobiles, and energy supply.

• The class will also discuss how to prepare for the future.

Classes (Some Tentative Thoughts)

• Class 1 - Forecasting and Past Predictions - Overview of the art and science of forecasting.  Some interesting predictions.  End-of-the-world scenarios. Class survey of developments likely to affect them.
