§Redoubt #4 is the strongest and
most prominent of the nine redoubts protecting Blakely that were
built in 1864-65.
§The fort held four field guns, a
mortar, and a 7” rifled cannon. (The cannon was
never used because its carriage was incomplete).
§The soldiers in this
fort were the veterans the First Missouri Brigade.
§The artillery units
were from Alabama. Mississippi and Tennessee.
